I enjoy the game.Here are some suggestions by an experienced gamer

Hi natural selection devs and fans.

First of all i have to say that the game plays nice.
The problem i ve found is that while the game is good the alien race sucks in comparisson to marines.
A lot of people are going for marines including myself making the alien race alienated.
My idea is make the alien race more stylised.
The healer of the alines looks very bad.You could have become with a better style more slick and more alien sexy.Or something between half human half alien but cool looking.
That hypopotamus thing sucks very bad.

The game needs to make players feel that they are progressing and not just playing one match after another.
So you have to introduce player levels that you gain experience with every match depending on how well you play.That way it will be more easily for players to come against on ranked matches.Make them unlock things with each level customizations weapon gadgets etc.
Furthermore you must introduce character customization female/male etc for marines and something else for the ugly aliens.

Additionaly you must expand the choices of the marines/aliens giving more freedom for players to customize their build.
Players must have plenty of choices that will make them find cool enhaced combinations.

For example the flying alien could have some more upgrades giving the player the choice to go for a more advanced spec.
You could make aliens have more ability choices.So the flying thing has the 3 basic abilities which unlock other skill trees after that that you can make the selection and decide how you want to evolve your alien.The same goes for all the alines.Currently everyone waits till 3 or more onos are up and they go for charge.Thats not clever and every match has the same win result.

For marines there should be gadgets or weapon enhancements that you decide what to choose.
For example a player may want an assault rifle with a scope or with a small grenade laucher or with laser sights.
A shotgun with bigger aoe damage or a shotgun with electric damage or a shotgun with small amount of flame thrower.
etc etc .
You can easily get the idea that the game cam become more complex more customized and more unique for every player and occasionaly more fun.

Lastly you must introduce the predator race.Which they are half marines half alines but they are human like.
They could have a combination of guns and abilities.


Finally i would like my name to be changed when i change it in my steam profile.

    And no predator race. Please. AVP has seen enough headaches and i don't want ns2 to be ruined by their ideas. :/

    Hey, welcome to the forums!

    Unfortunately, while ranks are something discussed frequently, especially to help auto-balance teams, progression unlocks are unfeasible imo. Too much of thise game is designed around starting on a clean slate and having progression through the game via strategy. Cosmetic unlocks perhaps, but upgrades and kits less so.

    We all hope the evolutions available to the Aliens get a bit more fleshed out. Two were recently pulled because they couldn't get them to feel right and balanced in the current game. But there are lots of ideas on the table to help suit different playstyles and enable interesting uses of the classes.

    As for full-on class customization in-game, that's something in the far future. The team is fairly small and can't balance all possible builds. We have enough trouble with balancing the asymmtrical gameplay!


    Lastly, as for balance, Aliens are definitely in trouble right now with all the new players. But trust me when I say that if you take the time to learn Aliens are just as powerful. In fact, in NS1 I had to pry people away from playing Aliens because they loved the predatory feel too much. Give it some time for people to catch up and you'll be seeing a lot more even fights.


    Thanks for the cool ideas and hope you stick around. Just at this time I doubt the devs have the resources nor vision for such a huge overhaul in the gameplay.

    Sidenote: I think your concept of selecting abilities has a lot of merit. Instead of unlocking Leap for Skulk, unlocking Tier2 Abilities for Skulk would be kinda kewl, then let them select which one they want in their kit. Provide a bit more niche variety for each lifeform.

    Definitely something to mull over.

    They could look more slick and more stylized.So everyone want to play them just like the marines.
    I think it's the looks that most people are not going for the aliens and because they dont have guns as well :)

    I disagree with this statement, infact I think the gorge has a very unique and memorable look. If i had to complain about the style of aliens it would be that the fade looked too human.

    I hope this isn't serious. The suggestions sound like CoD or Battlefield.

    I am quite happy to have a game without this whole rank/stats system stuff. This is a team game. Players should do what helps the team and not what is required to get the next unlock/achivement/whatever..

    just my 2 cents.. :)

    Rank-ups and such are not a good idea. Neither is the 3rd race. And fractal trees is a bad idea, adding way too much complexity.

    However, there is a good idea in there we can look at.

    Specifically, more variety for Aliens and Marines. Attachments for weapons you can purchase might help flesh out each weapon. And perhaps taking some of the failed abilities we can give them to the Alien classes and let players pick between them to setup their kit instead of having them available to all classes. Definitely these are more long-term and quite fundamental changes.
