Is there a way to keep the green rookie tag?

Aside from just editing my username is there a way to keep the green rookie tag in place?

    I believe in the options, under the general tab, there is an option to have rookie on or off. You can also switch your armor at the very bottom of the list too :P

    No, it disappears after 4 hours of gameplay.

    Even if you reenable it in settings, it will disappear after a few minutes of play.

    If that is true, then why even have the option at all, if it does nothing at all?

    Because when it was first introduced, the only players were beta players who had hundreds of hours in. Some of us didn't like seeing the word "rookie" next to our names all the time.

    Well I can understand that, if before it didn't automatically switched it off after a few hours. But, then why haven't they remove the option now that the game went live?

    The play time is written to Steam\userdata\<number>\4920\remote\options.xml

    You can edit the line <timePlayedSeconds>1234567890</timePlayedSeconds> if you really need to.

    IMO, the option to re-enable the tag should be there (and lasting). Not too many ppl feel they aren't too rookie after 4 hours.
    Or better yet, need to be unchecked themselves.

    Very good! I have like 20 hrs in now and got a pretty firm grasp on gorge play since about 15 of those hrs has been gorge. In fact had a very epic match on refinery last night as gorge (we won). Basically was defending warehouse for 30 min from constant gl and exo pushes. Brought hive back from sub 10% numerous times and lost it once I think. Playing ring around the hive with exos and dodging nades in my little cubby hole...10feet sw of the hive. Good times....

    If I ever try comming or marines ill prob edit that file. I still know nothing about those sides of the game.

    gues im just lucky steam says ive played 12 hours 4 of those were launchday difficulties that were fixed in patch 228 but the rest ive played and NS still says im a rookie
