Graphics problems

I went to play NS2 yesterday and i'm have graphics problems. On release day the game was fine but now when I run the game none of the graphics are loading apart from the background image and a couple of lights.

I've tried playing with the graphics options but nothing seems to change.

My pc Specs

3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM
2GB GDDR5 AMD® Radeon™ HD 7970M
12288MB 1600MHz Dual Channel DDR3
Windows 7 64bit

    I have had this exact same problem from day one. I don't know what they are doing to fix it. The reason it happens for me at least is my game fails to load the maps fully. Precaching only gets to around 880 instead of the full 935/945 whatever it may be. When I look at console as I'm connecting it will say "failed to load map" then about 10 seconds later it will read "map ns2_caged loaded". I have bought this game and from day one have not been able to play it. This is getting to the point where it’s beyond ridiculous. This game is having tons of issues for numerous players at the moment. It’s getting to the point where if they don’t fix this problem soon I will be expecting a refund. It is clear it is not an issue with the users. Verifying game cache, reinstalling the game, and playing with my graphics card all of this I have tried with no results. The problem is with the engine. This needs to be fixed in an update not someone telling me to delete files or install this or that.

    Hi sir, could you please post your log file by pressing Win+R and pasting the following:

    %APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2\

    Then open log.txt

    While you're at it, please also delete the cache folder in that same directory, as well as the following folder:

    \Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2\ns2\shaders

    Then open Steam and verify the game cache files for NS2.

    Hi sir, could you please give us a copy of your log (%APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2\log.txt) file and dxdiag (Press Win+R, dxdiag, Enter, Save All Information) file?

    It would help us to get more debugging information for the developers to pinpoint the issue with the engine (if it is the engine) to fix. More information will help them eliminate false probabilities and get closer to finding the exact issue. Thank you :)

    Deleted the files and did the verify cache for steam re-downloaded the files. I can play as alien if I push f to see the map layout. Did so here is my log files post redownloading.

    I also deleted the cache and the shaders but this had no effect. Tried re installing the whole game but no luck x

    This is caused by AA being forced outside of NS2 in your catalyst control center.
    Check the box that "allows the application to decide" and the problem will be gone.

    Looking at your dxdiag:

    You are using integrated graphics which is not supported by NS2 or most games
    Seeing as you have a "2GB GDDR5 AMD® Radeon™ HD 7970M" you need to enable that as a profile in your catalyst center for NS2.exe
    Not so sure how to do that for ATI/AMD cards.. but for NVidia you just open the nvida control panel and create a "profile" for NS2.exe that uses "high performance mode" ...
    something similar exists for your catalyst center im sure.

    I have that set already. That is not the issue. The issue is the failure of the game to fully load the map. Precaching only reaches 880/945.

    Iron horse your a legend! Switching catalyst control center to allow applications anti-analyzing did the trick!

    Thanks for the advice about the integrated card too will make sure i set profile up although i'm pretty sure its automatic switching to the radon because all games are running great on high settings.

    Ba1kan is solved as well.

    The "automatic switching" should allow the ns2 log to catch it. Meaning if the NS2 log is saying its using integrated graphics, i'd trust that it is. hehe.
    Definitely investigate that ;)

    Just out of curiosity I was reading other people's technical problems and ran into this thread.
    Changing the graphics card used for NS2.exe in nvidia control panel fixed my horrible low fps issue with my laptop yay \o/!
    Now I get around 20-40fps with my laptop on lowest settings :)

    Can play NS2 on laptop too now, thank you guys :)
