Game starts up, only background is rendered

Having an issue where I start the game client and the background (behind where the menu should be) is rendered, but there are no menus and as such I cannot access the server list or anything else for that matter. I do not see any logo screens while the game is starting up. I also hear the music in the background and the sound of my mouse hovering over where menu elements would appear, but clicking etc does nothing. I have tried deleting local game content and reinstalling multiple times, as well as verifying my game's integrity. I currently have an EVGA 580 GTX graphics card with the latest drivers (306.97) running on windows 7 64bit.

Try deleting your Steam\SteamApps\common\Natural Selection 2\ns2\shaders folder and then "verify integrity of game cache" in Steam.

Hi sir, if the above step by Dghelneshi does not work, could you then please post your log file by pressing Win+R and pasting the following:

%APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2\log.txt

I believe I've tried the deleting and checking file integrity thing to no avail, but that was a few builds ago. When I get home I'll try it again. Should that fail, I will definitely post my log.

Yup sometimes Steam fails to update certain files and its integrity checking is not very thorough. Deleting the files will make Steam understand 100% that the files are missing and need to be redownloaded, which will now be the files from the latest and greatest build :)

If it still does not work, could you please post up a dxdiag log (link to pastebin) as well as your console log (%APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2\log.txt) and we'll see what can be done.

Worked perfectly, thanks! For others, to get to "verify integrity of game cache" right click on "Natural Selection 2" in your Games Library and select "Properties", then click the "Local Files" tab and you'll see "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".
