Welding Is Too Easy

i think welding should not be effective on you while you are moving or doing any action. you should have to stand totally still: not rotating, not walking and not shooting. and when someone is trying to weld you a message should tell you someone is trying to weld you and you must stand still. what do you think?

    Agreed. Less movement. OR you can make the welding action itself a tad slower.

    Don't forget that everyperson who dedicates himself to welding during a fight is not only one less person shooting, but also has to sacrifice their own enjoyment for the sake of healing others.

    Make it too difficult and you might get some annoyed people. It's hard enough dealing with the massive weapon switch animation you get when you switch to a welder...

    Yeah, it's not a huge deal that you can weld while moving, but does it really have to take 4 seconds for the damn thing to start working when you switch to it? Would it kill the game to make it like every other weapon/item/attack in that regard?

    yah maybe it should weld a little slower too and players should be able to see the state of other player's armor to know when someone needs welding and when you can stop welding and when a can-opener has done it's work so you can feast on the contents heheh. in real life you'd be able to see it wouldn't you? but since this is a game the best i think can be done with the limited technology is simply to have a meter or number written somewhere on screen.

    anyway i'm saying this coz i saw a block of marines destroy a hive by just marching in a group all with welders out constantly welding each other and any chambers or aliens that attacked them. they were unstoppable. i don't think they even fired one shot. they didn't even have to worry about friendly fire. it was kind of silly.

    yo seoriusly.. the GAME Isn't about welding... haha.. ppl do it out of kindness to post up in a base or expan to guard and weld everything to keep it in top condition.. or maybe even ur light armor or HA....

    dun expect too much.... welders aren't unfair and they arent even supposed to be that MUCH of a game changing factor

    seriously ppl complain about the smallest things.....

    i mean.. why dun i make some stupid complaints:

    1) i think lmg shouhld have 48 bullets cuz sometimes its the last 2 bullets that kill an alien and tahts unfair
    2) i htink there shouldn't be a welder.. but a screw driver and hammer... so u hafta SWITCH between screw driver and hammer to fix things.... that way it takes longer

    -_-" see.. stupid... stupid comments rite? same thing as "welder needs more time"

    The problem is they are a very large game changing factor. A group of HA guys moving together welding eachother are more or less impossible to kill without having 1 or 2 onos paralysing them. Plus the welder deals massive damage in melee range.

    Get rid of the damage from welder and I'm happy, then loosing the pistol in exchange for a welder would ACTUALLY HAVE A NEGATIVE SIDE. The welder can repair AND deal more damage than the pistol AND the welder requires no ammo or anything. You only loose range on it, everything else is better than with the pistol.

    its not very cheap, replaces second weapon, needs long time to start...
    I dont think its too powerful..

    umm from wut i last knew.... WELDER is pretty close to MELEE dmg...

    so u try goin about to an OHNOS.. fade.. gorge.. or LERK.. or haha A SKULK.. wif ur welder.. kinda hard....

    plus.. regarding ur WELDER + HA HMG ppl... haha ... ive never seen anyone have the support.... so many NS players are in it for their own glory.. they never wanna help ppl.. im yet to see such good teamwork.... unless u r playin wif friends....

    look, welders are:
    1) expensive (the entire problem with marines, they realy have to worry about RPs)
    2) long switch time, that is there for a reason
    3) replaces the pistol, look the P does do more DMG, it is ranged, and has DEAD ON acuracy


    what the welder actualy replaces is the knife, if is close range and deals more DMG

    just leave it fn alone, it is bloody expensive that is why it is good (I tis more expensive then a jet pack)

    I can understand why some people might have a few issues with the welder. The fact is that one of the last games I played I had another player stand in front of a Wall of Lame, taking it apart with an HMG, while I simply crouched behind him and welded him constantly. It makes it real easy to take apart alien defences with just a couple of marines. Hell, halfway through a lerk even starded firing on him and it didn't make a difference. The only time we had to stop is when he went to reload. If we used slightly different tactics, he could have welded down the alien defenses while I kept him golden still.

    However, alien defenses simply don't cut it against upgraded HA marines without real live alien backup. I've come to accept it as a fact that you should have defenses simply to slow marines down so that your players can get there in time to attack or even flank them. Groups of HA marines who weld each other constantly are very difficult to take down, yes, but it can be done.

    Anyways, the only real fix that I'd think perhaps is in order is, say, making it so that a welder cannot repair a suit of armor until it has not taken damage for 1 second or so. It'd help to prevent that sort of constant-weld action, and would force marines to duck around a corner or something to repair up, which given the technology and idea of welding I don't quite think is out of line.

    1. Cheap IMO, and marines have it far easier than aliens with the resources. Having all of the money on one person is a huge plus compared to spreading each and every penny over 8 people or more, even though only 2 require it (evens out in the endgame, but the marine system is still better).

    2. Switch time is fine, atleast you can't immediently start welding when your teammate takes damage

    3. Oh right, sure, let's test the damage thing out. You take the pistol, I take the welder. Now kill that alien resourcer.

    I'll bet 100000000000000000000^1000000000000000000000000000$ I'll kill it faster than you will.

    1. As I said, you only loose range compared to the pistol, EVERYTHING else about is better (well, the cost factor isn't but I was just taking the actual use standpoint)

    2. If a skulk tries to jump over you, it'll die at about your eye level if you manage to use the welder on it.

    3. I've seen it in every game where the marines have a non-n00b commander. Which is quite often now.

    How do you figure only 2 require RPs as aliens ? Upgrading and evolving is done by every alien.

    That's why I said it evens out in the endgame, at the start skulks have no use for resources while gorges are always out of them though at the end it's mostly the other way around (gorges at full 100/100, the ex-skulks much lower, that is if the aliens are winning).
