I believe the most widely used program in model creation is Milkshape 3D. I'm unaware of the website, and I do not know the latest version. Try looking it up on Yahoo! or some other search engine until a more knowledgable individual replies.
I have a copy of that from when my mother was aspiring to be a graphics designer. Then she decided she would rather sleep and play on the computer all day instead of working. Expensive program.
ya, those things are pricey. ill go search 3DSMax or whateva on google <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
You would probably want to go for the $20 Milkshape until you are confident that modeling is your thing...
Myself, I'm too cheap for Milkshape even. That's why I never got into modeling. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
Alright, what plugin do the NS modellers use to export from 3DSMAX to Milkshape? I'm assuming that they are using 3dsmax4; if they are, i wanna know how, because i can't. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
$3495. Grrr... I can't believe software companies are shocked about rampant piracy and cracks.
My (small) company just had to shell out several grand for Macromedia Authorware 6, which irritates us to no end considering how quirky and behind-the-tech-curve it is. The same goes for the Corel Graphics Suite. The newest one is 10 times more buggy than 3 versions ago, but it has juuust barely enough important features that we keep using it.
I wonder if anyone has ever sued a software company on the grounds of mental anguish or pain and suffering?
What's that? If it's an alternative to AWare, never mind. We don't use it (yet) for web deliverables - we're strictly high-end computer-based training (that will run over intranets, but are not designed to perform well over the internet). Plus AWare lets us do an astounding amount. We just get aggravated with the crappy ex-Mac interface and the complete lack of support for video card use (for OpenGL, etc.).
<a href="http://www.planethalflife.com/wavelength/models/files/" target="_blank">http://www.planethalflife.com/wavelength/models/files/</a> has a plugin for 3d studio max which allows you to export your files directly into Valve's smd format.
