Performance issues with a decent PC

When I play this game on Medium or High texture settings at 1920x1080 I have horrendous frame rates but when I put it on low texture settings at 1600x900 it runs at a silky 60 FPS. Is there something wrong with my PC or is this game just very demanding? I run games like Battlefield 3 just fine at high settings so I find it rather strange how NS2 is more taxing on my system than that game.
