Currently I leap onto the wall, then face my mouse away from the wall and UP some degrees and jump again. I hit the ground and bhop or bounce to another wall. Is this the correct way to do it?
It's more "ceiling falling" than wall jumping. Your speed boost is dependent on your vertical velocity when you hit the ground. So the angle doesn't really matter, just how high up the wall you are.
One suggestion I've heard but not mastered myself is floor, jump to wall, jump to ceiling, jump to floor, bunnyhop a bit, repeat. What I find easier is floor, jump to wall, climb to ceiling (lose speed here), jump to floor, bunnyhop, repeat.

You can walk up the wall but you can also look completely up when you jump off a wall, it will make do a higher parabola and make you gain more speed. Basically you want to maximize the falling time if you want to maximize speed.
But you should also jump wall to wall, specially in combat. It also makes you a bit more silent while traveling.
When moving around the safe areas of the map: Run up a wall and jump at the floor then bunny hop to maintain speed. Or leap and then bunnyhop to maintain speed.
In dangerous areas: Move slowly on the ceiling or even sneak on the ceiling. Then when you spot a marine: Wall jump to the floor to build up your momentum, then start biting him. The momentum boost should last the entire combat and make you a lot harder to shoot.
If you have to make a long hallway rush: Wall jump to the floor, jump once, then leap, then bunny hop. (If you time it well/are lucky) You momentum should be pretty mental at this point and you will probably struggle to get many 75 bites (50s should still be easy) you will be crazy hard to hit though.
You should save your leap energy for when you feel yourself slowing down or for when you want to escape combat.

-disclaimer, this is just what I do.
+1
is it also possible with marines?
