strategy
Some ppl just dont know things on here, like the best offense is the best defense. If they cant push you back then they cant do jack. Im tired of beign an alien at start adn every oen either a runs off to attack the marines, b run off to secure the othe hives or c both. I will start and say hey some oen build our main hive base defenses.... and i would have to keep saying that. And most ppl dont do it untill its attacked. Most of the times i see this happen we lose it. Or on the marines they will put up a few turrets like 5 adn then go rush to get resources. and only put a few turrets there. Or they run off and try to secure a hive. I get ejected every now and then cuz im using rp to build lots of turrets at base and they are requestign stuff i cant giv them yet and then they get in and mess the whole thign up by not puting up more turrets and tryign to rush and secure points. I think ppl should start thinking more stratigicly and do the smart thing. BUILD AGOOD BASE DEFENSE AT START! even if you only have one resource because you know what? id rather be boxed in for a bit with one resource and a great base defense then lose within 5 minutes like my last game i came otu of not to long ago. I was on aliens i said soem oen stay and build main base defenses. I didnt doit cuz we already have 2 gorges out of 5 ppl. and what ya know. they take otu out secodn hive we just got and built lots of turrets and sieges outside both hives and took away all our resources and then we lost our first hive. all we have was 2 resources some where and me and this other guy were left, we were btoh gorges. we coultn build jack with out the hive so we both saved up, i saved for hive while he saved up for lots of chambers. Of course they found us befor we got the chance to build the hive and we lost. all within about 5 minutes. I think every one should start learning from there mistakes adn im gonna stop babbling now....

    1) Whitespace is not the work of the devil. Use the enter key every once and a while. Also, the english language requires that there be a space between words for a reason.

    2) Reading your post gave me such a headache, I have decided to discount everything you have just said as the ramblings of an idiot.

And so I'll just let someone else reply.

Both of you could take a good use of this thread here

Heh, I thought this post was a joke at first. However, I will make one attempt, and one only, to change the mind of IceWolve.

If you "build a strong base" you will allow the aliens to get all the resources, and probably their three hives up. Once you are done basebuilding, make sure you like it, because you will spend the rest of the round desperately trying to defend it against Fades, Lerks and Onoses with all the upgrades.

The reason I thought this thread was a joke is because you described the strategy that is commonly accepted to be the reason marines lose so often now. Have you played any other Strategy Games? In basically all strategy games the key to victory is to expand quickly and out-resource your opponent. Yes, you will be vulnerable, but that is where flexibility, intelligence, tactics etc come in.

    To make a fitting metaphor:

You have two very small trees, in the beginning of spring. One of them decides: "Hey, I'm gonna get the toughest bark around here so the beavers can't eat me", the other thinks: "Hey, I'm just gonna grow like crazy, so I'm really big once the beavers start showing up around autumn". When autumn starts getting close, the small tree is a really hard little twig, but the other tree is a big mighty oak, that is just starting to grow some kick-**obscenity** bark. The beavers take one big look at the oak and thinks: "Man, we ain't ever getting this sucka down, lets' go for that scrawny looking twig over there".

Ok, that's my best attempt, it's 6 in the morning here ffs...

As the game progresses, it will never be as easy to expand as it was in the very beginning. Take advantage of that fact.
