If the game is waiting for your GPU, it means they have succesfully optimized the game so that your processor now can process frames faster than your GPU can. Hence your CPU is no longer the bottleneck. This is very good and this also means you get higher fps than in 224.

It's not like the CPU can do more now, more like the GPU can do less, or has to do more.
