NS2 dedicated server console

Hi,
I just set up my NS2 dedicated server and I seem to be having an issue with the console. I added the -console flag in the command line and the console opens but it just open a grey box, I can't do any typing or actually monitor the server. I was curious if anyone can help me figure out as to why it is doing this?
Edit: Figured it out, forgive my blonde moment.
For anyone in my boat you need to click on the console window and hit tab then the tilde(~) key.
