So what are the long term profit-based plans?

I don't usually ask to get my money grabbed...
But I love the team and the community the game has bred :D It's gonna cost 25 bucks, and the team has already confirmed how this game is going to evolve (no pun) and change with generous updates.
But 6 months or a year from release, will they consider some form of DLC or expansion?

Not to say that I'm not eagerly awaiting the updates to NS2, but I think there can be time for both.
But i wonder what they would make ?
Maybe some other game on spark engine.

I think this would be a great idea. It would make the spark engine look more attractive to developers (cha ching) and would make good use of the insane work UWE have put into the engine. Using an in-house engine for one game is not optimal usage of ones assets, in my opinion.
In fact, with the engine as moddable as it currently is, they could probably outsource developers to make a game for them. With some guidance from uncle Charlie of course, to make sure everything is high quality.
Most likely. Saves alot of time/money and they are intimately familiar with it.
I do hope they have some sort of long-term financial plan. NS2 isn't a subscription service, so I don't expect free content for a long period. All that said I expect UWE recognize the long popularity of TF2 was due to its constant updates, and are hoping to emulate it with new people constantly buying the game in the future.
And monocles for gorges.
They'd monetize it via decorative armor, weapon and character customization, hats and female marines.
Everyone who bought a copy pre-steam gets everything for free, post-steam guys will get some good deal as well, and everyone else will just buy their trinkets.
DLC or map packs will just split the community between people who have them and those who don't.
One thing they can look at (and possibly already have) is to organize a steam free weekend. This gives a lot of people the chance to actually try the game before deciding to buy it. After the game has some more content, such as more maps, maybe some good mods and such things, a free weekend could really boost sales.

Link me thread, what's the update on them ?
Since the beginning it was always only cosmetic DLC which I happily bought all of them because I stood by such principles of supporting hungry Developers who seemed to "Want to Unite The World Through Play" instead of splitting gaming communities with such a cash barrier for content.
Do a face-heel-turn, and thus now I'm boycotting TWI completely.
How about Tower protect game.
U have to protect CC from attacking alien swarms.
Tho i bet there will be a mod like that soon.

But I'm sure if they'll come up with something awesome they'd be open to the opportunity. Nothing like cosmetic items, unlocks, weapons etc. for NS2 though.
