NS2 on G2Play.net

... might help convincing greedy friends.
Although this forum has a very noble 'Generosity Thread' I couldn't find any words about G2Play here nor likewise pages about NS2.
Which is kind funny with that thread given, because:

Currently they've got NS2 pre-order keys for either 15.99€, 20.48$, etc.,
which actually gives either a ~25% discount for European customers or roughly ~20% for American customers.
Could be helpful for those being a bit diffident when it comes to buying this. (though the game isn't that expensive at all)

Although I got my NS2 version 'on the normal way' I only can recommend this plus G2Play.net in general,
using it for ~2 years by now. Never had any problems, support is both nice and quick, etc. ... .

And lastly, those who already bought NS2 could show this to friends not wanting to purchase the 4-pack.
Bigger player-base can't hurt, eh?

Hope this helps, even if it's just a bit.

These kinds of websites fall into moral grey areas. They're not approved suppliers and your Steam account could get locked if you're unlucky. Oh, and is this blatant (unintentional?) advertising?

I've never understood how these sites work. How do they get hold of keys at prices so far below any of the established (approved?) sellers? Even the ones that only sell online.

Is it because everyone else has a HUGE markup, or is there something a bit shady with these sites in particular? I mean, it's not like they're stealing the keys.

I've used these guys a few times in the past, and I didn't feel like I was doing something shady or illicit. So why do they fall into a moral grey area Fappuchino? Genuinely interested, not baiting or anything.

I think they get the keys from russia or somewhere, where they are much cheaper. It's a good price, but I don't know how much (if any) of that would go to UWE.

I believe UWE gets X amount for every key steam generates.
So it dosnt realy matter if its from Russia or from Hawaii.
(I dont actualy know if its how it work, but seems like a logical explaination)

In this case, as a digital game there shouldn't be much of a risk, assuming you don't buy Russian versions of games because of the massive discount (I think Valve has lately been taking action against these kinds of buys).

You can see that although the moderator did not state you it's illicit, should you get unlucky enough to have your account disabled, you'll know why. In this particular case I don't think there's much risk. But I still bought the game for 25$ on the Unknownworlds website because I want to support them fully :)

People are trading their NS2 gift copies pretty cheap, something to the tune of $10 or cheaper (might have to buy another game to trade for cheap).

Check out places like http://tf2op.com and especially http://reddit.com/r/steamgameswap

I have bought several games at G2play, there's really nothing to worry about. It's a 100% legit, they're merely making clever use of currency rates.
Though that being said, I found 20 euros to already be a bargain for a great game like this.

This is BS - no insult against you personally intended, mind you. If you buy a Samsung mobile phone cheaper in the US and then take it home with you to the EU, does Samsung have any right to disable your phone because you didn't pay the higher EU prices? No.

Of course Steam wants you to think it's a moral grey area. Just like Microsoft tries to paint selling used software licenses as illegal. It's not, and they're losing court cases left and right at the moment.

It's not really legit, they are not authorized re-sellers and you can't ask Valve to do anything if you have a problem with your account or game (we even saw some games deleted after a while in the past, I don't know if it's still the case), because you can't prove that you bought the game.
Btw, it's only 1.25€ cheaper than on Steam here, I really don't see any advantage for doing that.
