A possible solution to new aliens being WEAK

Dearest UnknownWorlds Devs,

There has been much discussion as to the annoying weakness of end-game skulks, of how vulnerable they are as soon as they spawn, etc.

It seems to me that a simple, non-imballancing solution might be to allow aliens to select their evolutions BEFORE they actually respawn. Then a skulk could come into the game with carapace and cerelety should they be available to him.

and/or he could choose to go fade and the upgrades, etc and instead of insta-spawning, once he's in the egg he just starts evolving fade.

It would also give dead aliens something to do.

regardless I'd like to be able to see personal res when I'm dead so I can think about what my next move is while awaiting respawn.

Thanks for your consideration.

I really like that idea. And we should be able to select which egg to hatch from.

    Great idea, +1

    EDIT: And what peregrinus said.

Selecting spawn points as aliens is one of my biggest grumbles currently.

Picking an egg spawning location through the RTS view, and then the egg would work wonders for how players approach spawning.

You know I thought this was already in...no wonder I could never do it...I guess it was removed some patches ago. I still think the message displays on the screen about pressing space or a mouse button to switch eggs. Maybe its just the Mouse0 spawn tip. I don't remember.

I also think spawning with upgrades would level the field a bit when the hive is pressured -- it's none too hard to destroy eggs which cuts down on spawning, already. Also, there are times when I can't even help after spawning because I sometimes get a wicked FPS drop when I burst out of an egg going from 3rd to first person. I usually have a pretty decent and consistent framerate all game too.

I agree. It would be nice to be able to spawn and pop out of an egg fully ready to fight, instead of evolving as the first thing you do. Over and over and over again. It would also make the late-game Skulk a little bit stronger.

2nded, this would give save time on picking evolutions and the evolution time itself. Doesn't unbalance the game towards skulks but helps nonetheless.

i have thought about this many times, love the idea. also would improve the gamers morale after dieing so it keeps him busy thinking about what he wants to do next instead of thinking about getting killed.

At the risk of hijacking the thread, I think selecting which hive you're going to spawn at is more helpful than spawning with upgrades pre-evolved.

I have already seen marines exploiting the wave spawn system: well, perhaps exploit is a strong word. Taking advantage of, to be sure. :)

Devs have said they're thinking about selecting a hive already... thing is I WANT to spawn at the pressured hive... with carapace... so the marine waiting for me to pop can wipe that grin off his face.
