The biggest thing hindering playability right now...

Is actually just the lack of auto-retry
I play in Aus and most of the times when I try to play I'm looking at a full server with no option to auto-retry, so the only option is to sit there dumbly looking at the screen and hitting refresh, or wait till a friend gets in which is the only time auto-retry via steam becomes an option.
Surely it should be trivial to implement something like this in the base client, or get steam to recognise NS2 servers?

Current version of menumod has it and it works with consistency
until you connect to the server
What am I doing wrong then, if I install the latest menumod and get "Client and server differs" error on all servers?
Edit: Actually, never mind. The consistency check passing version is linked on page 24 in the thread, not in the OP.
This isn't '99 and I am not retry spamming to join a game of HLDM boot_camp
lol
Pretty much this. Its a standard feature and its lack of presence is going to just cause more rage once the game is released. Right now its not so bad with just a few of us jumping on and off servers.
Aside from Valve games (or using Steam browser) I never saw an auto-retry feature and it was the first time I saw this.
I love that feature, of course, but saying that "a game without it is a joke" is not... real for me because I nearly never see it elsewhere (I don't say it does not exist, I can't play and test every games on earth).
Instead of an auto retry, a queue is a lot better in my opinion.
And for me, redoing the Steam server browser entirely is a waste of time, if it does not do more.

I didn't really mean to distinguish between queuing and auto-retry. IMO they are the pretty same thing and would like one or the other by 1.0.
Anyway, I think server performance and things like this is what plays the biggest part in retaining new players in any game - ultimately deciding the success or failure of a new release.
It would make me really sad to see new players drop off and get frustrated playing a game I think has massive potential as the sequel to my favourite video game ever.

Queue is much better.
Where's the streamers and my party hat?
Nice! Any chance the auto retry can make the game flash orange on the task bar if it joins while alt-tabbed?
(and that my game won't crash when it loads while alt-tabbed...)
