Unable to load Ns2 Client from Steam

I havn't played NS2 for about a week or so, and today I tried to log on and it looks like its about to load, then nothing happens. If anyone has any advice on how to handle this issue I would greatly appreciate it. I run Windows 7 64 bit if that helps and my graphic card is enough to handle the game and my drivers are updated. Also, the game never had any issues before when I played it.

Have you verified the game files? Right-click on NS2 in Steam and click Properties. Then go to the Local Files tab if I'm not wrong, otherwise explore around for the option to verify files.

Are you able to run any of the mod tools (LaunchPad, Editor, Viewer...)?

Yes, the Launch pad and its contents work

bump, I am still looking for some advice. It is very frustrating to know I was playing 1 week ago, and now all of the sudden it won't load

Do (did?) you have any mods installed ? (these are a major cause of problems at present, so if you have them, disable / remove them all in Steam Workshop, and delete them from the path below)

Try checking the log file to see if it might give any hints as to the possible causes, think it's in

%appdata%/roaming/natural selection 2

Along with the Workshop folder, in which all the workshop mods are downloaded. Unsubscribe all the mods from the Workshop and then delete this Workshop folder and restart NS2.

If that still does not work, try going to where ns2.exe is located then right-click and Run As Administrator.
