Yeah! nice tut dude ). Its all about the harrasment skulks can do it causes some panic among marines, or should i say alot.. Last night i expirienced this more than once, dont remember the map name though..

6 skulks attacked constantly marines at one corridor near resource node from different directions it was so fun!. Marines were shooting everywhere, not one us died..and we did that same tactic over, and over again..they commander got **obscenity** and left the game.

Marine: "Omg!"
Skulk: "*Chomp!*"

I'll vouch for this working. The vent into the marine spawn on ns_caged is sex on a stick if you get a lerk or two in there with adren and regen. One umbras, the other spikes. One time, myself and another lerk got stuck in that vent (marines welded it shut once we got in there), so he went gorge and built a stack of three defense chambers at the end before going back to lerk.

Long story short: The two of us kept 3+ marines occupied and most likely b!tching at the commander for jetpacks or GLs for about fifteen or twenty minutes, then my buddy died and I kept harassing the marines (and getting a couple phase gate destructions in when the marines weren't looking) until the third hive went up. When that happened, I spore-spammed and blamed it on the nachos and refried beans I had in the ready room.

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who understands that Kharaa are guerillas. Kharaa are more hit and run, and less frontal assault-oriented than marines, and generally a littl lackingin brute force compared to marines. I am tired of seeing alien players who can't do anything except brute force and frontal assaults. Nice to know I'm not the only one who understands the value of being a lerk or skulk when you could be a fade, and attacking just to harrass.

Those vents are too much fun... any time you can hole up in a harassment place, go for it.

Even in situations where the vent's entrance is closed, that doesn't mean you can't get into it... a quick series of flaps or leaps across the marine spawn area (if you survive ) can let you get into the vent from the "offensive" side. Just hop on in there, gorge yourself a few D towers, and proceed to harass the living hell out of the marines. Repeat as necessary

There's nothing quite as evil as a constant stream of babblers dropping out of a vent into the marine spawn, and tying up all the turrets...

EDIT: Heck, for that matter, just web the crap out of the place

not to mention hiding in a vent and spamming chuckle, or on hera, if you can get into central cargo, you can climb on the wall that has the CC on the other side, and just sit there and bite the wall, and the bit hit sound comes thru into there base

When you know your skulk mates are skilled at psychological warfare , build Sensory Chamber first. If marines are noob enough , they'll all quickly grow mad. Just build 3 SCs in hive to allow 100% cloaking , and let your guerrilleros hide on random choke points , munching unsuspecting marines. Unless both the marines and comm have a strong willpower they're going to lose :
-Nodes can be defended easily... all you have to do is wait until a marine tries to build on it or destroy your RT.
-When you spot a place being sieged , just reach the ceiling near the hive location and stay hidden with your mates until marines attempt to build turrets or phase.
-If marines don't attack in packs just camp their base entrances. There's enough room to be unpredictable hiding on most maps.

Lerks strike faster than skulks when gliding. Standing on a corner gives you fair chances to backstab passing marines.

worthy tactic, too bad i n1.04 you only cloack 90%
ambushing is all abou what kaharaas is about, I remember when I had built 5 DC and 3 OC's in a corridor outside a hive they had (outside of seige range) and I snuck under and got behind them, and since we were playing on a LAN, I could hear the marines say "were going to rush, let's go!" and so three of them ran off, and I ran behind and it went something like this:

*chomp chomp chomp*
WTH? (1 kill)
*chomp chuckle chomp*
GUYS! he's BEHIND, BEHIND!
*chuckle chuckle chomp* (kill 1)
(last marine turns around)
*chuckle chomp chomp chomp* (3 kills)
and then I chuckled in the real world
and they nearly went berserk

that game ended up w/ destroying the seige cannon they had in th@ hive, building 6 DC's beneath the Hive, and 4 OC's at a spot where they won't fire unless the marines come into the hive room (it's tucked away to the right of the room in a area, I can't remeber the name of the map)
and they I just build the hive, despite the TF , spamming chuckle all the way
bind "c" "impulse 7" <---------------thats chuckle

splitting marines is a poor strategy ý believe the more crowded the marýne group the more that trust themselves and and they juast pass without inspecting area ita easier to get 3 or 4 marines together than walking alone marines buti completely agree onpsychology if you **** them off you will win ...

What the guy above me is trying 2 say is that marines in [SMALL] groups of 2 or 3 tend not to check above door ways and such like the truely good (but rambo (too much CS?)) NS players do. So its easier to ambush them and pick off one of 2 and let a team mate get the last one while u run away. That way the marine wastes his ammo on u and ur team mate is left with a free meal.

Even with 90% cloaking, unless your up against a background that makes you stand out (light background for fades, dark back ground for lerks, etc) then your pretty much invisible. I had HA, HMG and motion tracking and I was picking off tons of cloaked skulks in my base that moved just slightly. The only way I knew I was hitting them is when I saw all that green blood. I got some great gorg take downs as well, gorg runs around the corner right into me as I unload in his face

In 1.1 I think sensory is going 2 kick ****, but I doubt it will become a standard first build in public servers.

Yes, i agree, harassment is the key. bind a key to "chuckle" that's always great to sit in a vent and laugh it up while 2 or 3 marines stand there looking up into the vent waiting for you to poke your head out. i've tied up marines for 2 minutes onece just chuckling it up and hitting them with parasite every once in a while (which makes them mad) pluss if you happen to get a parasite kill, OMG it's funny, demoralizing to the marine. and OMG IT'S FUNNY! i'm pretty sure that the bind for chuckle is bind "<the key>" "impules 7" correct me if i'm wrong, i'm pretty sure that is it though. now GO. laugh it up!!! bwahahahahahahaha

it seems that you've missed out almost the uber terror-weapon though; ladies and gentlemen, I give you... the Fade!
can spam acid all over the place, can escape from any situation, and can kick arse at melee as well. onos may be a tank... but fade is a mechwarrior the sight of a fade is enough to make most marines shout, and some scream in terror (really, ive heard people screaming). not mentioning the fact that fades can demolish almost any base single handedly...
also, regarding the 'more marines, more confidence' thing, i agree wholeheartedly. sneak up on a group of, say, five marines using silence, they're about four times as likely to hit each other as you. just what I think.

Psychological warfare doesn't work any more now that the marines are no longer afraid of us.

If they have half a brain then they know how weak we are in the start game and they even might think of using that to their advantage. Took 'm a few months to figure that out, but there we are.

Let's face it: it's a pro-marine world. They are the good guys, we'r the bad guys. It's the USA vs Saddam: we'r supposed to lose so the marines can feel good about themselves.

If we win it's because of marine stupidity. And these days it's real hard to find a game with stupid marines.

I expect 1.1 to change a lot of the gameplay without addressing game balance much.
Really, if balance is the problem to be fixed, then why completely overhaul the gameplay? It can't be that -every aspect- of gameplay is part of the problem with game balance. Changing nearly everything will unavoidably introduce new issues which wil only be uncoverd after much public playtesting.
Or is there a reason why this time around internal beta testing will uncover all major issues?

Just to add to this, Skulks usually work best in pairs. 2 skulks can cover each other, set traps and outflank marines.

So when you first join a game, find someone to "pair up" with and stick together throughout. Then later you can go Fade and Lerk or Gorge and keep working together.

With res for kills, it's now more important to stick together and not die for stupid reasons.
