Unique Hive Abilities

<div class="IPBDescription">What happened to them?</div>For a brief beta patch, each hive type had it's own unique map-wide ability.

Crags could upgrade the infestation to heal friendlies faster.

Shade could give vision of any marines on the infestation.

Shift could teleport units between hives (was never fully implemented).

What happened to these? Any chance we'll see them return?

I might be mistaken, but those things where never tied to hives. Infestation just healed and gave vision. Teleportation was never in.

Vision on infestation was removed because it was OP. aliens had way too much mapvision and marines where unable to make any surprise attack. This is why drifters took over that role.
Healing on infestation made regeneration useless.

Teleportation would be a great thing though. I'm all for unique hive abilities, but healing and vision just didn't work out

I think the infestation healing should return, at least heal structures. It's just annoying that he aliens have go gorge and heal damaged structures. Marines buy a welder for 5pres or let a MAC do the job.

You seem to be so high you've no idea what's going on...
First there was infestation sight, which was always on and always detected marines on infestation.
That was deemed OP and removed.
Shortly after came the tech-path-hive-specific infestation upgrades that OP is talking about.
And the shift-tech-path-upgrade was speedboost when on infestation (which was never implemented).

As for OP, I totally agree they should return!
As nakorson says, should NOT heal players.
As for speed boost, it should not stack with cele or stack at very reduced effectiveness (so speed is like 1 normal, 1.1 DI boost, 1.2? cele boost, 1.25 DI+cele boost).
As for the DI-sight, maybe have it be pulsed, not update that often - for example with the light-pulses following the cyst-chain!

As i read your last sentence i thought about a "scan" which runs through the infestation from a hive and detects marines on infestations. You select a hive, click the "scan" button and pay a few tres. Then a "wave" is being emitted from the hive traveling through the infestation. When the wave "hits" a marine on the infestation it is being shown for a 5-10sec on.

    I'd be down for that.

    Always on hive sight- OP

    Pay-to-win hive sight- OK
