Questions about shifts and egg spawning

Hi all,
Regarding the eggs that spawn from shifts - will they always take priority for spawning aliens (regardless of whether or not a hive is under attack)?
Also, if I build a second shift and spawn more eggs, will the new shift take spawning priority or will aliens spawn out of the old shift's eggs first? I also assume there is no way to remove the eggs once they have been deployed.
I've been using the shifts quite often when attacking / defending positions and they've saved hives a few times now. Creating a shift around the corner (on the opposite side) of a hive when it's being attacks allows for a rapid wave of reinforcements. Are there downsides to this strategy? It seems underused in pub games.

I think the downside is your question, the egg spawning priority mechanics are unknown to the majority of players and questionable to the rest. During the time players are dead there is no indication where they'll spawn, or option to spawn at a given cluster of eggs (eggs spawned by shifts, seperate hives).
Most of what I've seen agrees with your logic here. I'd love to get clarification from the devs or beta testers on the spawning logic if possible.
EDIT: Found this on the Wiki - "Eggs can also be created near Shifts using Team Resources; these eggs are prioritized above all eggs created by Hives." Guessing this includes under-attack hives?
why aren't you at your post?

Hahaha. :)
Ultimately if your hive is under attack, skulks will be slaughtered as they spawn. Making your team spawn at the shift can allow for a coordinated defense.
