Trouble Getting Dedicated Server Up

<div class="IPBDescription">Not A Server Newbie</div> Ok. I have run CS/TFC Servers before, with no issues, but I cannot get a NS Server up.

Clean install of HLDS (newest), then NS, then NS 1.02 file updates.

Start the HLDS using shortcut, shorcut is:
hlds.exe -game ns -noipx +exec server.cfg +ip xx.xx.xx.xx +port 27015 -maxplayers 12 +map ns_nancy

So, the hlds server pops open. It stops doing things after the server adds to the Master Servers. At the top, I see FPS,then 0/12, then ns_nancy.

Why wont it go further?

Again, I have run a CS & TFC server in the past, on this same machine. Any idea?

Ok. Well, its not working, because I cant connect to it.

Also, I am used to seeing lots of other gibberish fly by as commands are executed, people join, maps start, etc etc. At least, this is the case in CS / TFC.

in your command line try this
take out exec server.cfg (this is redundant)
take out the ip and port

    try connecting again

are you connecting by lan or wan ?

Well, I finally got it working.. Something with the firewall was causing weirdness. All working now, but the pings are too high. I think im going to forget this windows box for the server and go linux...

    Thanks guys.

If you want to see messages in the console you have to turn "log on" in the server.cfg. It might also help to put "mp_logmessages 1" in there as well.

    edit: Damn typos
