New arms lab coming?

    on the topic of new models and fluff stuff-

    There's a lot of<i> really</i> cool idle and taunt animations for everything (rines+aliens) already made (viewable in the model viewer).... will those be implemented before 1.0? They are awesome! But yeah that armslab design is pretty sweet.


    p.s. where did the taunt sounds go :(

    Yes, this is the current concept for the arms lab. It still has to be modeled, animated, textured and all that.

    How awesome would context-sensitive taunts be? Dystopia did this really well, even had ones for capturing objectives and new spawn points.

    The new arms lab looks good but I am a bit concerned that all the flashy visuals and glowing blue stuff may start getting out of hand. Take the new blue model that comes up on infantry portals, I am sure the final product will look cool but is it really adding anything to the game or is it just clutter?

    Please keep this all in mind and don't let it get out of hand.

    That new arms lab looks very cool. I'm looking forward to seeing that in a future build. I am also looking forward to hearing those new tiered rifle sounds.

    Know what else would be nifty (post 1.0)? If the aliens upgrade chambers had visual elements to show what they are attuned to. Example: adrenaline giving the appearance of blood being pumped, like a heart, and celerity causing the little spikes on the chamber to spin like a buzzsaw.

    I also hope the L0 rifle sound gets a little more oomph, it still sounds like a helicopter since the alpha.
    NS1 had an awesome sound for the LMG, make it more like that.

    Also, great work on the new Arms Lab.

    I wonder if the arms lab hologram will show whats currently upgrading. It might be cool to make scouting of the marine base more important.

    The current Arms Lab is a only a placeholder. That's why.

    Yes, that is the idea. So, it will show different holograms depending on which upgrades are being researched. We will have to wait until after 1.0 to add all of those, however.

    Oh wow was just expecting a single animation to signify it was researching, not many!

    Looks very snazzy though, and hopefully will make it easier for new commanders to identify the arms lab among the other buildings in base.

    So if there will be multiple holograms for the arms lab can we expect to see all structures develop unique identifiers (eventually getting ride of the current imbedded floating % upgrade). Maybe have the hologram solidify proportionally to completion...
