Feature Post 1.0

Hello, I was remembering, following NS1's development, we had 3 major versions, babblers, web etc introduced or modified over the years.

I'm wondering if we will see this 'loose' approach following the release of NS2 ... Will one day we have babbler king for 3 patches untill it is removed? Will UWE be investing imaginative design into NS2 or seems as it is a finished product, does 'feature complete' mean 'forever feature complete?'

I don't really know of many games that changed so much following release as NS1, maybe Dawn of War 1 ... that had pretty major revamps outside of releases.

Mostly just wondering how going pro has changed the 'how we design games' plan?

Of course we are working towards getting a version of the game done for 1.0 that feels very complete and fun and balanced. However we plan on adding many more features and improvements, some large and some small, to keep making the game better and deeper after release. We already have a list of items that have been cut in order to get the game done for October (Babblers is one example but there are many many more) and we very much plan on getting those into the game.

So, basically version 1.0 is not the end, merely the beginning, and we plan on updating and supporting and improving NS2 for a very long time after release.

It's actually an interesting approach. Kind of like DLCs for free.

But you guys seem to like these endless discussions about every small change ;)

DLC is for free isnt actually bad, i know some companies make it out to be.

But more new free content patches actually makes more sales and such.

Was just reading an article about how mods from people for amnesia, have kept the game selling for them to this very day.

Paying for DLC really has to be a thing of the past.

I prefer to pay for Expansions like in the old day. But thats just me old school old gamer haha

...Why is extra content synonymous with DLC now? I mean, going by the very most literal definition of DLC, technically patches/updates are DLC...but they were never called DLC before paid DLC started showing up. Why not just call them patches/updates?

The only patches consoles seem to get are paid, they never had the luxury of downloadable patches/updates that PC users get all the time. Just look at the poor TF2 on 360/PS3.
