Why are custom models always for the marine?

<div class="IPBDescription">just out of interest</div>This isn't a complaint or anything, I'm just interested. The marine model seems more complex overall than the skulk model, which means more work to create modified versions of it. The skulk seems like it would only really need a reskin, maybe a little bit of model work if it was really needed.
So why is it always the light marine that gets the modified model? Is it because its more iconic and stands out more than the skulk?

I'm thinking either:
(Both of these are just visual changes, not functional)
a. More heavily armored kharaa models
b. Grizzled, scarred look. Like with a big scar that goes across the face of the model. So that when we terrorize new players, they learn to associate the "scarred ones" as impending doom.
I think both models would give the sense of, "This is an enemy that has survived for a while, they must be pretty good."

This, except only for special edition owners. Get your common deluxe version out of here!

Add more bone-armor on the current models and they will look like a rock.
I'd want some less armored ones with the orange-brown skin tints from NS1, I mean we already have a take on the classic NS1 marine with the deluxe skin.
