What does the Marine Commander exclamation icon next to the mini map do?

it is used for the map ping. although i'm not sure if the icon is currently working in b217, you can also trigger it's function with the middle mouse button.

it is ment as a general way to get your teams attention and is usually used for various purposes, often in combination with voice (e.g. "they are attacking here, please use the phase gate to defend"). the main difference to a waypoint is that it it only lasts for a short time and it is more noticeable due to it's flashiness.

It works (at least in the alien com interface, I haven't marine commed in 217) by using the minimap on the bottomleft. So click on the icon, then on a location on the map.

CobraCommander

When I was playing as the Marine comm today, my teammates were telling me to stop pinging an area, but it wasn't me, lol. It kept pinging every few seconds and they just had to ignore it. It was in Veil and Mineshaft. I love those maps, woooo! So yeah, I didn't use the ping during those games over confusion.

Also noticed how the game automatically tells you when a Marine needs ammo. It gets annoying. I rather have my friends tell me themselves when they needs something.
