Better Hydra appearance

The model for the hydra was designed for it to sit only on totally flat surfaces, but it can be placed anywhere. This leads to issues when the geometry its attached to is sparse or oddly shaped:

From the back its particularly bad:
<a href="http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/577/2012081200002.jpg/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/4391/2012081200002.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
But clogs don't have this issue:
<a href="http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/818/2012081200003t.jpg/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/5296/2012081200003t.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /></a>
since their attachment point is inside a full wrap-around model, so no matter where they attach it looks good.
So my simple suggestion is to make the hydra do the same. Extend the base into a sphere so even if attached to weird or sparse geometry it will look good.

I mean seriously it looks like some damn tiny flower.
A defence attacking structure like Hydra should look mean, very thorny. Somehow i just dont get how that look for hydra ended up being what it is, its very underwhelming

Like a fleshy flower
you can also place hydra's off infestation, so his argument still stands.
I agree of course with the suggestion, just make an infestation blob and the foot of the hydras much like a clog. good idea.
