Still no hit detection?

This being a first person shooter, you would think getting bullets to collide correctly with targets would be a priority. However, only a few months from release, it still seems to be completely random. I have more luck killing aliens when I specifically aim where they are not.
A friend of mine recently purchased the game, so I'm going to be able to do some concrete testing, but I am estimating that around 50% of all bullets which register as hits on the client are discarded by the server. It really is demoralising when you know that nothing you see on your screen means anything, and spraying randomly is just as effective as trying to aim at something that isn't really there.

I'll be able to test at normal pings (sub 100) and then the pings I usually play with (300+), but the tricky part will be testing while the server is under strain. I hope 100 whips can accurately simulate a server in crisis.
I doubt anything I find will be "reproducible" per se. All I'm looking for is the percentage shots on which the server disagrees with the client.

Add 100 drifters too and that will really slow the server down.
Compare the numbers of hitpoints left to see if anything changes and make a video of both. Add ping and / or low server tick rate and see what happens. I reckon, that the server don't register every LMG bullet when the tick-rate goes down.
Jesus I have never in my life gone over 70 ping in ANY NS2 game I have EVER played. Play on the PROPER serves and you WONT HAVE LAG.

due to client side prediction, playing at 200+ ping will give you lots of problems. the difference between 50 ping and 300+ ping is probably 50% or more fps drop.

I'd love to play on Aus servers, but there is a major issues in the monash servers that constantly crashes the game client. Not to mention the community is rather small so its hard to find games on off hours.
Your 'advice' is bad, and you should feel bad.

Please direct me to the South Africa NS2 servers, I will be more than grateful.

Well, I should be able to play with 1 fps and 1000 ping, and if the client tells me I scored a hit, the server should agree in the vast majority of cases.

You get constant crashing? I get a crash every 30 minutes on average. Very annoying, but not so annoying that I'd rather play with a 250+ ping.

@op, good luck... Remember that the dummy model thats shown with the hitreg command is not positioned properly.
