Game Crash on Menu

Haven't played NS2 in a few months. Just got a brand new computer. Crazy powerful. Clean installed NS2. Tried to run it. The menu comes up almost immediately. Then the mouse cursor changes to windows cursor. If I click on the menu it changes to NS2 cursor, but I can't actually interact with anything. If I alt-tab there is a crash dialog. Not sure what to do here besides wait for the next build...

    Is it the regular Windows crash dialog, "ns2.exe has stopped working" or something similar? Can you do alt+enter without it crashing? Do you get sound from the game menu, like the background music? Does the menu react when you over over various options? (It should highlight the option you hover over and display a pixellated arrow next to it.)

    I had a very similar issue. Turned out to be a non-compatible map from the steam workshop (stopped on ns2_goliath). Try opening the console to see what is there before the crash (if its the same issue, you get a few seconds of the menu working), or just unsubscribe to all maps in the steam workshop.

    I had the same problem Aprech2 where it would crash when try'ing to update stuff off the steam workshop. thanks for the info benson now i can make up 4 lost time xD
