However a while back they changed it so you could only have one Commander. So you'd need to ask him to hop out of any hive for a second and then you hop in.

The more hives aliens have the more often they can be upgraded. Positive: A compromise for both sides. Doesn't hurt the gorge much if cheap hydras get destroyed, but it still counts. Upgrades make them more viable lategame. Not sure what would be hard to understand about them costing res.
Sidenode: Hydras could also work as cysts (they spread infestation) to open a few more strategic options.

I think hydras should cost res (2 or 3) but become permanent structures as a result, so if you die as a gorge, or change classes, your hydras will not despawn, and perhaps have a small health increase.

if it costs money it shouldn't be temporary
