What's a mod?
No, seriously.
Do you mean NS? NS is a HL mod.
Do you mean custom models/sprites/sounds?
Are we talking case mods?
If you want to know how to install HL mods:
Drop the game folder into your HL folder in your steam folder (...\steam\steamapps\<accountname>\common\half-life\<modfolder>)
IF you mean a custom model for NS2? Just check out the <a href="http://unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showforum=106" target="_blank">customization sub forum here</a>.
Anything else, you have to be a bit more specific about what you want.

IE: hud mods, alien vision mods etc. etc.
Simple: <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=Search" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=Search</a>
Advanced: <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?s=&act=Search&mode=adv&f=0" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index....ode=adv&f=0</a>
They're a total ###### to get to, but basically whenever you need to do a search, always use the search field at the bottom of the page, not the one at the top. Don't even ask me who is to blame for this snafu.

there has to be 1 person who can simply tell me which folder to install the mods into inorder to use them in-game (im not trying to make them im trying to use them) :'(
<a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/wiki/index.php/Modding" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/wiki/index.php/Modding</a>
Scroll to launching your mod information.
<img src="https://pickhost.eu/images/0005/3950/Natural_Selection_2_Mod_Setup.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
<img src="http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr165/uga117/NS2AlienVision.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Go through the process again and triple check everything, every last spelling, and make sure under AlienVision, the next folder is lua, and under that make sure there are some files in the folder.
For the AlienVision mod the next folder actually has to be "Shader". ;) But generally the folder needs to have the same structure as the "ns2" folder.
Things I would personally try after quadruple-checking everything (these are long shots):
1. Press Win+R, enter %APPDATA%, go to the "Natural Selection 2" folder and delete the "cache" folder.
2. Try running the shortcut as admin.
3. Try it with "Set Launch Options" in the game's properties on Steam like I do. It does exactly the same as the shortcut, but whatever.

allright, i deleted the cache and it seems to be working now...idk what it fixed but it did. how do i use multiple mods at once now? :) Thank you EVERYONE for all your help!
YAY!
The cache folder holds compiled shaders from the game which can be outdated in case you modified a shader (the alien vision is a shader), so that's why it fixed the issue.
To use multiple mods, simply merge the contents of the mod folders into one.

thank you for all the help, and info. hopefully this thread will show up on Google for future queries from other people. If this can help even one other person besides just me I'm satisfied!
