absolutely no idea... can hear the game but have a flashing black screen

basically, whenever i try to launch the game i my screen goes black and keeps flashing between a slightly lighter black with a green box in the top left corner saying "PC VGA" and pure black screen as though it was off, i can hear the game in the background, i can even hear my mousing over things, no idea whats causing this.

im using:

Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E7200 @ 2.53GHz
vista home premium
ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
3.6 GB


the only thing i could think it would be is that im using a toshiba flat screen television as my monitor, the PC VGA thing normally comes up when i start the computer but always goes away, this time it just stays constant, if i alt tab out it stops...

Might be NS2 trying to start in a resolution your monitor or graphics card does not support for whatever reason.

Try editting the resolution manually in your

%appdata%/Natural Selection2/system_options.xml

Or you can try using mine if it didn't create it for whatever reason: <a href="http://ompldr.org/vZXowYw/system_options.xml" target="_blank">http://ompldr.org/vZXowYw/system_options.xml</a>

ok, found the file and everything but i have no clue how to edit it...

Just open it in a simple text editor like notepad. And search for two lines that look like this:

<x-resolution>1024</x-resolution>
<y-resolution>768</y-resolution>

And try putting in 2 values that match a resolution your monitor supports. Maybe 1280 and 720 if it's a widescreen TV, or whatever resolution you're using in windows.

yeah, sorry, i literally realised to open it with notepad like 2 seconds after posting that, it wasn't letting me open it with notepad when i right clicked, i didn't think to just drag it, yeah, that fixed it perfectly, thanks!
