A Minor Immersion mod
I have an idea. It sounds simple so it might just be a line of script that needs changing. Hope a modder can help me with this.

I'd like to get one of competitive screens of the game removed. For example the black screen that comes up after you're dead. The screen shows who killed you and the ability they killed you with. I don't want to be reminded I'm playing in a competitive FPS environment. I want to try as hard as I can to survive without thinking who killed me like the average MP FPS games. I only want to know something lurking in the darkness killed me and I need to be more aware next time.

I know this sounds like a minor downgrade since NS2 wants to be a competitive E-Sport, so I'm sure players would like to know "Sir Fap Alot" killed them with the flamethrower to get an idea of the situation. It's a handicap to remove this information but to me its for a little more immersion and I hope someone can reply with helpful info. Please please please.

TL;DR: I would like to have the info in this black screen removed. I don't mind the black screen, just the info in the middle, I rather not know.
Top right might be asking for too much.

Maybe this can get enough attention for modders to start on an immersion mod *fingers crossed*.

Thanks!

I second this. And and immersion mod sounds interesting. I wonder if we could get a short campaign going using a similar immersion principle. The setting of Natural Selection (Industrial Environments, creepy [and adorably cute] aliens, power system) would be perfect for a horror campaign.

You can open you console and type r_gui 0, you'll be immersed greatly.

A campaign would be great too! I'm sure many nice things will come out in the future!

Thanks, I'll try it out ;)

Edit: It removed the things I wanted gone but it also removed everything else, I was completely in the dark. I had to Alt-F4 out. How do I change it back? Please tell me ;_; I tried r_gui 1, but nothing happened...

Also please Mr. Yuuki modder help me accomplish my goal. Please! I looked through the game's directory, but I see too many files to know which one it is to change.

It should be back when you restart the game, otherwise you need to type r_gui true.

I'll have a look if I have time.

If you're looking for a mod that puts you in the dark and gives you a more immersive and visceral multiplayer feel you might want to check out our modification. There will be no resource gathering, no 'this person killed this person,' and some light strategic take-over. We'll be releasing the alpha soon, but you can check out our videos, mechanics, and artwork if you like. If you just want NS2 with more immersion I know their are several requests and responses to "simpler UI mod" threads. This is just one of those threads: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=119630

Otherwise check us out in the link in my signature, we're always trying to drum up more alpha testers and general interest. Good luck.

I kind of support the removal of those extra things, I'd even remove the kill notifications from the top, I don't really pay attention to it, reading that also takes some time and concentration which might lead into loss of a body part. So, yea, please remove unnecessary GUI, there are some things that are to be peeled off, I think =)

Note: I liked old realistic kill icons/ alien weapon icons much more, now they look more comic-way, or something else-way, I'd like keep NS2 serious =)

I agree 100%, just remove all the kill feeds and any mention of player names on my screen :D

I hope my dreams comes true!
