It would also be nice if the destination phasegate is getting attacked that all other phase gates flash red and the blue holographic thingy goes red and static with each hit to indicate malfunction on the other end (and you don't go thru to your doom, unless everyone else is going in with you) :)

Also, once you do that, you can rig the phase gates so that you go different places depending on which side you go into. That way you can go either forward or backward along the phase network.
Although now that I think about it, one wonders why the system still even works this way, why we aren't able to click on the map to choose a destination after we run through. That would make a lot more sense. I think the current system is just a hold over from a simple way of coding it in HL1.
Selecting the priority order of phases should be a commander option, not a player.
I think it's a good idea, and as a strategic choice by the commander, should be an option available to the commander. (The phase gate priority list etc).
While i tend to agree that spamming PG's isn't particularly viable, that's just a strategic opinion, which should be left to the commander/players in the match, and not decided as some arbitrary 'fact' on the forum. More options for the commander is good and encourages better comming.

I like the simple name of the area its going to phase too, I also like the idea of one side of the PG going forward and one backwards.
Creates a reason to not build them facing walls.
ONly question is whether its intuitive to a player (or if it confuses them to see same pg taking them to different location).
Side-suggestion: would be nice to have the phase plane jitter while the PG projecting it is being attacked =)
Another side-suggestion: add the tech progress right to the Evolve menu and the suggested Phase menu, so you can always see what tech your team has from any location.
Also would like to be able to temporarily disable a phase gate as commander, so teammates do not need to phase so many times to get where I want.

In that case they should go with what I suggested: Each side of the gate goes someplace different, so that way you can jump around even faster to the correct area.
I also would probably rather see through the gate to the area it goes to, that would look cooler and achieve a similar effect. If you really want you can label over the top of it the name of the room it goes to. I don't think it makes sense to put the words right on the portal screen itself.
I see this as an alternative to giving commander the ability to set phase gate destinations (which i would also like), this might be easier to implement though.
