Current system requirements for Beta

I'm thinking on buying NS2 but wonder what the current system requirements are for the beta?

I don't have a power full computer at the moment and that's why I wonder if I can play the beta or if I should wait for the real release.

I found on the wiki (http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?) the following requirements:

1.2 GHz Processor
256MB RAM
DirectX 9 level graphics card

These are very low requirements but I have read here on the forum of people complaining about lag with i5 processor..

Due to the fact the game is in Beta stage still and not completely optimized, it takes a pretty powerful CPU to get decent framerates.

There is no "current" system requirement at the moment.

What does your system consist of? If you list your specs we could probably tell you if you'd be able to run NS2 or not right now.


I'm running an I5-2500K @ 4GHz and a ATI 4850 and get an average of ~40FPS but it can dip as low as ~18FPS at times.

Here are my computer hardware:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ (2.4 GHz)
RAM: 2GB (DDR2)
Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 5670 (512 MB)

So I think I need to upgrade my computer before I play NS2 Beta.. :P

50-80 fps early-mid game
20-40 fps in lerk gas / map is covered with hydra's and turrets
