More variety to Melee

<div class="IPBDescription">Just adding a suggestion</div>First of all, I'd like to apologize if this has been done before, but I used the search function and doesn't seem to show.
as we all know, soldiers don't usually train with only one weapon, regardless being projectiles or melee.
So, for a suggestion, or idea:
Something of a slower hitting, more damage weapon with a tad bit more reach maybe? lets see, we already have a switch axe, how about something you can find and deal damage with in space stations, or armament areas..
As much as i'd like Katana, it doesn't make sense, so something like a (crowbar's same length, so guess not) Sledge Hammer? with a little extra damage bonus (or not) towards certain type of enemies (or from behind)?
Also, as much as i'd like chainsaw, it would be quite pointless unless the marine can dodge fades and onos repeatedly, or fast enough to catch skulks, so No go, but instead, how about something like an electric baton?
well, whatever the variety is, it needs to be "bought" from the armory of course.
I'm not gonna say lets have exoskeleton also dual wield melee, coz if it can, then people will start saying double swords/spears/whatever on it, which doesn't make much sense, since wearer won't be able to catch anything on that slow moving thing, but if capable of dual wield, why can't it wear one shield which adds reasonable armor, at the cost of reduced accuracy(applies to dual wield), moves slower, blocked vision (see through a bit) while on guard and one weapon loss?
I mean, we're kinda in space :). the least we can do is imagine something that can be brought up and used, logically, with similar things used here?

If you imagine two marines trying to axe each other, it wouldn't be much fun (and it would be a similar experience against aliens). You can imagine there wouldnt be much skill involved .
The other thing is if the marines buy a melee weapon that can out melee a skulk - then the skulk becomes pretty useless.
The game justworks really well with ranged vs melee :)
Perhaps if someone makes a mod for ns2 that is kind of like a garry's mod survival rpg in space with weapon degradation etc, your idea would work.
but i guess shotgun already covers close combat somewhat.
