SEA Servers

<div class="IPBDescription">Server for South East Asia!</div>Anyone know any servers close by?

I mean, for most of us, sure we can easily say that since Starcraft II battlenet server include Australia as connecting to SEA server, then SEA server for NS2 should be somewhere in Australia instead, however, it is still going to lag BIG TIME, for everyone else up north.

so is there anyone who knows if there'll be any SEA servers for those upper north?
let's see, indonesia and above? (sorry, Australia and NZ's the only country south).
by which meaning, if they'll be located in singapore, japan, korea, or even china? (a bit too far north for china IMO).
although, the most central will most likely be Singapore (Indo and Malaysia's not really well known for internet connection, like Thai and Viet).

also, anyone knows any kind of pricing for said servers, so if anyone is interested they can see budget etc?

Thanks!

    Try <a href="http://www.hypernia.com/dedicated_servers-gaming.php" target="_blank">http://www.hypernia.com/dedicated_servers-gaming.php</a>
They are equipped to host NS2 servers in Singapore.

We tried a hypernia server in Aus about 4-5 months ago and it really wasn't up to the job. I think it barely managed a 10 or 12 slots. I don't know if it would be the same specs elsewhere, but just be sure you can get a refund if you find it's not up to the task. Good luck up there!

A group of us in Singapore's planning to run a NS2 server from one of our fibre-backed homes. Still in the midst of wiring up the hardware of the server as to our understanding, the server software is mostly single-threaded. So we're building up an overclocked system.

It's our first time running an NS2 server though (but we have prior experience with NS1 HLDS, L4D1/2 SRCDS) - does anyone know a good guide relating the playerlimit with the core clock speed?

    @Whosat
This section of the forum probably has links to the best info, but I just wanted to say that there have recently been some server optimisations that will make most info older than 1 month incorrect, so watch out for that. In the last month a bunch of servers have increased from 18 to 24 slots while maintaining 30 tickrate.

If they make the same level of improvement again, I'd be fairly confident of commercial-off-the-shelf servers running 12-16 slot servers. I hope it all happens by release because we're going to need a LOT of new servers.

Wow, that is good news then! I guess there isn't a thread which consolidates all of the information needed to run and manage servers? Apart from the Setting Up A Dedicated Server page on the wiki.
I'm currently encountering a bug where the webadmin server returns the JSON info regardless of what I append to the URL. e.g. <a href="http://localhost:8080" target="_blank">http://localhost:8080</a> gives me the same page (JSON) as <a href="http://localhost:8080/this/page/does-not/exist.html" target="_blank">http://localhost:8080/this/page/does-not/exist.html</a>
    Any ideas? :/

EDIT: Was a dumb mistake in using relative paths. Sorry.
