Game Hiccups/Unresposive mouse

Almost every fight I get into either the mouse will become unresponsive or the game itself will freeze for a second or 2. Makes it almost impossible to play. My System Specs are as follows:

Core i7 2.6ghz
6gb ram
nvidia SOC GTX 275
Windows 7

Doesn't matter if I max the graphics or turn them down as far as they will go, this still happens, so I'm really not sure what else to do except to post here. Nothing like this happens with any other games I play, some of which are much more power hungry than this one is.

Anyway thx in advance.

The thing is, there are probably no games out there which are more powerhungry then NS2 right now. THis is due to the engine not being optimised yet. The main bottleneck is and has always been the CPU and being below the border of 3Ghz seems to be causing the most issues.

Also what I do on my old school C2D clocked at 3.2Ghz, I preload the map by walking around as much of it as I can before the real round starts (arranged matches or scrims mostly). And I try to shoot most weapons(axe/pistol/rifle) and use most alien abilities (skulk). This way at least that stuff is loaded into memory.

Also these issues are known and are still the top priority, the game has seen a lot of performance increases this last half year. The devs are now focussed on performance mostly, with the game being nearly feature/content complete for v1.0. So lets hope they can squeeze out more performance in the upcoming months before v1.0 goes live :)

I think Ferratu may be referring to the intermittent 5-second freezing that now (more than ever?) seems to be ocurring with the new build. Up to this point I've been very lucky with how NS2 runs, in that I didn't suffer crashes, stuttering or any of the sort, but with this new build I too now suffer from 5-second freezes that occur without any direct cause (happening at any time). Sometimes it just doesn't unfreeze anymore, and I need to call it a day and kill off the game-process.

I think this is due some network issues (packet loss or something). Or mayby host side issue? Seems not to happen when ping under 80 or so. I haven't had this but two times and I only visit "green" servers.
