Password reset

I created a server with a random password. Unlucky for me, I hit an "ö" and wrote kmöm. After a while I tried to delete the password in the menu, the ö changed to a small zero like rectangle and that and the letters in front of it are now non-deleteable. Where is the password saved and can I delete it by altering a file entry? ^_^`

It all depends on how your server is configured.

server.xml - is usually where the password would be stored. <password> </password>, the file in most cases would be located within %appdata%/roaming/Naturalselection 2/ folder however it can be in other locations depending on the path specified during server startup. Check the paremetres used for starting your server and see if any config path is listed.

In B213 sv_password will be implemented within the Admin System and enable you to remove the password via Devicenulls webconsole or from within the game.

Hi, thanks for the long explanation.

I found the file "options.xml" and the password entry matching the old pw. I changed it and saved. But despite the fact that I change or delete the pw, the game menu pw remains the same and is not deleteable. I will wait for B213 and try out the sv_password. But it might not help if it just rewrotes the pw like I did now manually :(
