<div class="IPBDescription">Also some whining, but feel free to ignore that bit.</div>So I used to play a stupid amount of NS, and now that NS2 is starting to look playable I'm trying to get back into it I'll start off with some basic questions to get up to speed:
- Are marine weapons hit-scan or are bullets actually modeled on this new engine?
- Does there exist a spreadsheet/table/resource anywhere showing the precise number of hits to kill a target with various attacks/weapons and factoring for carapace/weapon upgrades/armor upgrades?
First impression criticism/whining:
- The new alien team gameplay feels pretty lackluster compared to the old alien team gameplay. I was a huge fan of the old playstyle where the team's success was a culmination of many players' independant actions. It was nice to have two wildly different teams, where one team's success is dependant on a group of people following the orders of a commander and the other team is a group of equals working towards a common goal. Sometimes you get bored of following orders, you know.
- The role of the gorge also feels pretty downplayed, killing a fatty doesn't seem to have a measurable effect in terms of delaying the progress of the alien team (stopping a hive from getting put up, for example), it can really only slightly reducing the amount of static defenses they will have in place.
I only realized after posting that there is a wiki, a lot of my questions were answered. I just left the few up there.

Glad to see you back Kami! Flayra has a design document (google) listing all damage and numbers. I would link it but im on a cell. Your other gripes are shared by many. Alien comm is here to stay unfortunately but the gorge is rumored to be getting better.
NS2 is a purposely watered down version of NS1 and I have come to terms that those days are dead and not returning, but compared to any modern game NS2 kicks the crap out of them all. So assimilate with the rest of us =D

I believe alien comm can be improved, but I totally agree the gorge isn't as fun or useful anymore.
Welcome back, though!
