How does the Steam Workshop work?

I subscribed to all the NS2 maps listed there. Then when I create a (listen) server with any of the maps from the Workshop it will start loading and then go back to the menu screen with a "file not found" error. How do I fix this?

    Last i checked, steam workshop was meant to be an unfinished feature? does it say anything on the changelog (if it is out there :/)?
