OK. I suppose it's a new record for valve time specifically with regard to NS2 build updates. But hardly remarkable for Valve time.
I remember it being mentioned at one point that MACs were supposed to be able to lay mines and have an EMP shockwave/blast that drains energy of structures and units. I'd assume thats what the EMP is, but we shall see once 211 is up.
I'm interested to see/use the infestation spike, myself.

I could potentially see a return for energy if it was confined to MACs/Drifters. The fact that they are fragile, need to be in range and can be killed before optimal casting might make for some interesting and, importantly, preventable situations and commander strategies. Would probably remove invisible drifters if that was the case, though. I'm just wary of too much playing around at this stage.

It turns out the delay is due to a distribution system switch - The new system changes the way we give updates to Valve, and how they disseminate them. We can't predict how long it will take for 211 to make it through.

This new distribution system is terrible. Give update dissemination back to gorge. D:
It's blatantly obvious that Valve has no interest in fixing their problems - the TF2 update yesterday rendered somewhere north of 50% of the servers unplayable due to crashing for hours. Even more because the update servers were continually breaking. And even less interest in providing UWE the service they are allegedly paying for. (Insufficient hats. Do you like Gaben's hat? IT'S MADE OF MONEY.)
If you think it's going to get better after release, ha. No, instead, Valve will hold things up even longer and even more frequently, except deliberately - allegedly in the name of "quality control." (Yeah, Google 'Dead Island rubber arms.' Quality control, right.)
At this point, it looks like 211 won't be shipping period. Instead we'll be skipping straight to 212, presuming someone at Valve doesn't remember they're butthurt over NS2 not using Source. Not to mention that relying on a SINGLE service that is run by a competitor is a terrible idea in the first place.
So how long till we can play the game without the pile of ###### that is Steam and the constant interference and fail that is Valve?

Valve is actually being very helpful. The changes they have made will make distributing builds easier, faster, and more consistent. If the price paid is a few days delay on a Beta build then it sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.
