<div class="IPBDescription">Bippity bopety boom</div>Lerk a flying creature, that is lighter than air by mixing gases to gain buoyancy and flapping it's wings for extra lift and forward momentum. The only kharaa that can fly. And should be a viable counter to jp rines. He's not strong enough to assault on his own. And he's more defined as a back up support roll. His latest addition bite. Brings back his ambushing ability. This is a good thing. But with his current form of gas like attacks/ support. He does nothing to stop the marine turtle that isn't high risk reward to him. The old lerk could play the Mage. Be crafty shooting around corners drawing the enemy out. Now the gas is positional based on the lerk.
The result when dropping this on marines is a little more than a annoyance. You take a step to the right your not in gas. You get a med pack problem solved. When exo comes in its going to be even more useless. Completely countered. A it stands spore doesn't hurt marine armor. But it is handy for obscuring vison. The green gas slowly disposes and mixes with the air.

With the return of bite spikes got changed. Spikes have gone through several changes over there exsistance.
Lerks need spikes it's the apitomy of Ranged instant gratification damage. It's also there only attack against structures. For solo grinding the last two health bars off that rt. as bite doesn't do it as its a biological poison DoT. So we have a reason for lerk shot gun burst. From my under standing he has several hook spike locations on his body it fits. Spike shot gun is also viable for if that marine gains some knock back. Or to finish him off as he runs for the phase gate and is two steps from sanctuary. But lerk spike shot gun is high risk high reward for the lerk. He still needs to Engadget in close combat for it to be effective and land the shots. It's not as accurate based on its spread like marine guns Nore does it do the damage of any form of bullet or buck shot. With removal of spike zoom, and single shot lerk sniping. The lerk lost all reason to be chased. He can only hurt marines if he come to them through a shooting gallery of bullets. With lerk spike he could hurt hinder and pick off marines from a distance. Although med pack and armory can counter this. Comes going to be reluctant to spam meds when his player could simple go out there and get revenge. High risk for reward. Or the marine can keep humping the armory. At which point the sniped spikes should be out damaging the marine armory heal. Direct hits on a non moving marine.

But how does spore and umbra fit into this. Umbra is a mix of gases. Lighter than air gases. More than likely combustible. Umbra is a denser than air gas. So dense in fact is can nullify high velocity bullets.
But what if these gases were altered in some way by friction or heat. Say from a jp flame, a grenade, a GL nade, a land mine, or a flame thrower. Clearly the Lerks process of making these bio gase chemical agents. Would give him and his kind some sort of immunity to the ramifications.

If spores are ignited. The patch of spore cloud should combust. In a vibrate green flame. If its connected to another patch of spores that should also combust. The area that said combustion consumes should be greater than the area of the spores. The effect of this would be marines risk bringing a gun to a life fight with the chance that it could back fire. When marines turtle in base the lerk must risk his 30 res to spore them. With the marine stepping out of the spore. To a med pack. Never being armor damaged. And still continuing to turtle. With any weapon of choice. And explosives marine weapons seam to be a good choice. For a agile small lerk. You can fill that corridor with GL spam and know the lerk won't fly down it. At which point he's stuck in the room while your friends shoot at him. Both GL and nades, has a down fall. If they explode near enough to the person who fired them they damage said person. Yet a marine can fire nades into his friends all day long and none of them will die. In fact rines enjoy sitting on made spam. But what if that wasn't the case. What if the wrong tool for the job had ramifications. If spores we combustable in this sense rine would need to re think the turtle when a lerk risks his Rez. A marine could still use the GL. But his mates might not be happy with him. He could still use that hand grenade. But he might want to step out of the room to throw it into the gas.

The explosion or flame thrower would still hurt the lerk. No love lost there no nurfing the marines weapons. But the choice to not pull out your pistol and whip that lerk could be your last. As the green fire consumes your armor and health in a moderate amount. Perhaps more so your armour and it only just singes your hair. But that choice could be enough. After all that lerk now has to re risk him self to come back in and lay down gas again. The choice for marines to stick around a room full of gase is now a risky prospect. It could also make a viable option for dealing with exo's

On to umbra. I the lerk spore explodes into a violent green death. What of umbra. It's a support gase a damage spongue. What if fire from the above mentioned sources. Made it much Denver than gase turned it into a liquid. That falls to the ground. Coating everything below it. Which then solitifys. A kharaa armor heal perhaps, all kharaa coated in it. Get a heal to their armor. Not their health. Is might also make the ground extremely slippery. At which point the gorge now has a fun park and marines are finding their controls reversed and sliding all over the place. Increaseing the skill that it takes to aim and hit. How would this get marines from not turtleing. Marines don't want to shoot through umbra. Or into umbra. They would rather not be inside it all togther umbra doesn't stop explosive damage. A turtleing marines best friend. But now in this scenario. GL rounds bounce and slide around are far more unpredictable. The marines aim is off. And he's potentially standing in a room full or kharaa that just had their armor healed. And. Any chance of running ends up sliding all over the place with reversed key board controls. Again he's going to want to get out of the turtle step venerable into no mans land high risk. To gain his player control, skill and situational control back. He might even want to use the slipperiness to chase down a kharaa. But again that's out side of the turtle.

If spores only damage marine health on combustion. Perhaps umbra could be like acid to their armor. As it solidifys being a tier three upgrade would make it nearer to end game. Along with exo's. Not so much a counter to it. But a unsteady exo with acid on his armor sounds like the lerk would be able to have a impact on a welding, nano shield exo train.

The lerk is now rather happy. He's a counter to jps. And has a few tricks for dealing with armor and gaining some instant gratification damage. These same tricks could apply to structures. But are also dependent on marines screwing up. He's also able to participate in breaking a marine turtle. Forcing them to leave the safty of their sentry guns. He's also able to play that Mae support role by forcing the hand of the enemy a little in denying what they can and can't use to counter him. Instead of the marines being able to counter him with every single weapon in their arsenal. If you set him on fire he's just going to to set you on fire right back
