Shades vs Arcs

This idea just popped in my head. When the marine comm scans for the arcs to shoot through the walls, if the alien commander notices and is fast enough he can use the disorient ability to interfere with the scan to deny vision the the marine comm(static?) and stop the arcs from shooting from so far away. The marines would have to either take out the shade to get the arc range back, risk sending the arc's into the hive with limited range to do the job, or pray the alien comm runs out of tres/doesnt pay attention for a volley to get off.

Since I haven't played much with the latest changes to the shade, I may be completely confused and disoriented about the structure's abilities.
Its a nice idea, as long as we allow another way to sight for ARCs such as marine LOS. If not, you will get situations with nearly impossible to break whip/hydra fortresses. If aliens have the res to spam whips, its only logical to assume they also have the res to spam disorientate.
