Been trying to connect to a server (with players) for days

--- Update: Wiping the folder manually after an uninstall followed by logging off steam to update the client before doing to compete reinstall SEEMS to have worked. . .

2 days ago refresh servers:
- find 8 or 9 empty servers, try back at prime time to find 8 empty servers (close game)

1 day ago refresh servers:
- find 8 empty servers, try back at prime time to find 7 empty servers (close game)

Today refresh server list:
- find 6 empty servers, try back at prime time to find 5 empty servers (close game)

I find it hard to believe that there are only 5 servers up and that nobody is playing with a lot of different people still making regular posts on the forum so what gives?

Do I need to start keeping my own server list and type in the IP addresses manually because this is getting ridiculous

I just posted on this as well... apparently the answer is '<a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=119039" target="_blank">soonâ„¢</a>'.

Also just a longshot but make sure your client is updated to b210?

"Added a fallback query system to the ServerBrowser that will do direct queries to all the server from the last known good server list response. This will be used if the steam master server fails to respond within 8 seconds for a server list request"

Looks like I'm b209 so how do I get it up to 210? Reinstall? check Cache?

I'm actually not sure how to force steam to update.. You are running the game through steam right? Make sure steams auto-update options are allowing it to update. I guess you could reinstall it as a last resort, but check your update options on steam first. Always leave the auto-update on for games you play a lot.

Try just verifying the game cache, if that doesn't do it go into the NS2 directory in Steam and delete a random file then verify the cache again and maybe it'll see other files out of date when it re-downloads the one you removed.

    If all else fails, reinstall.

I like the idea, but I'm already on Plan E or something. . .

Reinstall actually failed so now I uninstalled and then manually deleted everything that was remaining the the NS2 folder, logged out to update the steam client, and now am trying to reinstall again

Ok looks like it's finally working again. . .

My guess is just updating the steam client did it, but I'm not about to find out
