Black Screen With Cursor

<div class="IPBDescription">All of a sudden, darkness!</div>Simply put it: I can't even see the menu!
The game loads, and I see the cursor and hear the menu music, but it's just completely black.
I can even mouse over the options and hear their noises... but the screen is black.
I have a Radeon HD 6970 on Windows 7 64-bit, with 8gb of DDR3 ram. I tried Catalyst 12.4, uninstalled, rolled back to 12.3, and the problem still occurs.
I played the beta on a friend's account back around Christmas and it worked fine... even completely reinstalled the game, and still, darkness!
Anyone know a fix?
UPDATE: I managed to get it working. I 1) uninstalled via steam, 2) deleted the Steam NS2 folder once it was uninstalled, and then 3) deleted the Appdata NS2 folder. This issue did still occur on my laptop with a clean install, though, so it still exists.
