Its that time of year for our annual $60 COD4 re-skin + map pack, and this time, Treyarch has taken the initiative to take the series to the future, where somehow our capability in the field of robotics accelerated 1000 times what it is today in 13 years, yet the US army can't be arsed to to take marginal effort to make sure these death ray machines can't be hijacked by your everyday generic neighborhood terrorist/nazi/communist group.
But I digress, while i am pessimistic about multiplayer basically being cod4 except with laser guns and assault mech killstreaks, i'll give Treyarch credit for attempting something different.
Though this begs a question, for Black Ops 3, where the hell is the series going to go? further into the future? Those sequences with the cavalry were giving me hope for Call of Duty: Napoleonic Wars.

This is certainly more than I was expecting out of the story..
On one hand, I've had some hilarious times with organized groups/gimmicks on multiplayer coupled with stupidly overpowered killstreaks(blackbird was so lol-worthy since a competent team could just chain them together for the entire match after the first).
But there's no escaping the reality that the game is just reskinned money-grubbing bullcrap with gameplay that is shallower than the kiddy pool. Giving my money up to a company that thinks of it's playerbase as nothing more than a cash cow that can be milked every few months just rubs me the wrong way.
So, is laughing in voice-comms whilst stepping on pubbies with a battlemech really worth $60+$45 over 6 months (plus XBL sub fee don't forget)? I'm not quite sure.
