Help me enable SLI. Anyone/Devs know any compatibility flags?

I get decent performance... however i can not get any use from my second card in sli for this game. Does anyone know any comppatibility fkags/game profiles that work with NS2?

Im dieing to get more use out of my hardware for this game.

Ive had the beta for less than a week.. game is great :). (Minus bile bomb in current state)

IIRC NS2 does only support 1 GPU.
The spark engine renders very fast so 1 GPU that isn't low end and not older than 3 generations runs NS2 perfect. The limiting component in NS2 is the CPU.

So be glad that you don't need SLI to play NS2 and save some energy and money.

So Overclock yor CPU, if you have a 2. Gen I7/5 you can get up to 4.2 Ghz with stockcooling, and as high as your CPU is stable with a better cooling.

Run a program that shows your cpu/gpu usage as an in-game overlay, and you may find your single GPU is not even fully utilized.

My point is that your cpu is probably what is holding you back. This game runs quite good on lower end GPU's from my experience, but even the best CPU on the market from AMD/Intel will chug at times.

I understand its not supported. However many games are not supported. That doesnt mean you cant get a performance boost out of it. I guarantee there is a hex combination that will render activity on my 2nd gpu. My framerate never suffers, and when it does i can tell its an engine optimization thing. I get better fps in bf3 with 64 players on max... even using just one of my cards. Im not putting the game down, I absolutely love it. Will probably gift a couple copies as well to support UWE.

BTW my cpu is i7 2600k @ 4.6 w/ HT stable on water. GPUs are 580s @900 on water. Game is on a SSD

I will continue to mess around with compatibility flags etc.... if i do find something i will update here or make a guide for those with 2 GPU already.

Thanks for the replies, see ya on the battlefield.... probably as my flesh is being torn off by bile bombs ;)

Trust me you won't get more than 1 FPS more with SLI, even NS2 using 1 Thread or 8 Threads results in a 2 FPS difference on my 4,8 Ghz I7 2600k and with my old HD5870 I got 160FPS in the readyroom before they capped it at 100FPS.

Hi Xilo - At the moment we are a very CPU bound game. I run SLI as well, and don't get a performance boost on or off. In time, as we improve performance, you should start to see benefits from the use of more powerful GPU setups.

Thanks for joining the NS2 Beta!

    same problem with crossfire.
    I get 250 fps in TF2/L4D but only 30-60 in NS2
    i7 920@ 4.0ghz
    ATI 4870X2

If you read the post you already know that Xfire/SLI doesn't help in NS2.

In the actual state of the game you need CPU power, newer gen i5/i7 at more than 4GHZ.
But having 30-60 FPS is very good for build 205, FPS will increase over time build per build. Don't worry.

    EDIT:

OK after more testing I have to agree... I don't think SLI on or off makes a difference. I hadn't played since the latest patch, which I think has improved performance a bit.

Yeah, there were some optimisations for animation redundancy checks (or something along those lines) in build208, but the game is still bound to the CPU for the most part. So SLI or Crossfire wont make much of a difference still. Performance is being worked on constantly though :)

Any idea why they capped it?

Some games tend to cause issues with the GPU running very hot at very high FPS, capping FPS is one way to stop this from happening if it is an issue :)
