Tried Not Building Oc's Till You Have A 2nd Hive?

<div class="IPBDescription">Do this, and you will be rich!</div> I'm serious guys.

Just cap all 5 or 6 resource points near the hives (leave the ones nearer to the marines alone) and then build the second hive. If you do this with only 1 gorge (everyone else as skulks, no lerks either since the slow down res for a while too). Then you will have it all done within about 10-15 minutes. THEN evolve a second gorge and start building. Chambers everywhere. Go back to the old resource points and fortify them, fortify both hives.

Also remember that on nearly every map marines will have to pass res points to get to some hives, so fortify those res points first to kill two birds with one stone.

With this build order, it is okay to build movement chambers while the second hive is going up (to help the skulks keep the marines on their toes) and then get the defensive chambers after. Basically you will end up getting both chambers almost at once, but it gives the skulks that tiny little window needed to remain useful before fades arrive on the scene.

You overestimate the time. Fastest time to second hive building is about 7-9 minutes, depending on team size and how intensely the skulks rush.

Note: only one gorge, of course. And you have to trust your skulks with keeping the marines away. No OC's or DC's until second hive gets built.

Yeah, constant skulk attacks can keep the marines in their base/have only 1 expo for a LONG time (basically until they get HMGs).

if the marine commander is good and realizes your doing this hell just get a squad together to go attack your hive. 5 marines working together can easily take out a completely defenseless hive and resource points on way. toss in a shotgun or two and your base is gone.
