How about players don't get pres from active Harvesters/Extractors when they're dead? So if you're alive, you're naturally getting a bit more res.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> I like your thinking of ways not to go down the RFK path (personally felt it hampered ns1). But what you have suggested simply means the teams gorge &/or comm (who rarely dies) will get more res than those that skulk/frontline marine. So we will have skulks & marines simply turtling/hiding early in game and not wanting to even say "boo".
Early game skulks is, has been and reckon always will be very much a suicidal class (xeno was a great example of this) this would change that. An early game skulk will often sacrifice a life to take down a res node or simply play marine base harassment. Running time and time again into marine base is not fun, you are taking one for the team by distracting the marines and splitting their resources. No further penalty should apply for doing the team thing.
Hunting in packs has always been the marine thing not aliens, sure aliens are more formidable when they do this but we should not force them to change from being more ambush predators. Aliens being ambush should be encouraged to take marines on..even if they are badly outnumbered and dont expect to live long. I should be encouraged to try to hold the marines out of an area, not flee if I am outnumbered so I dont suffer a lower res feed for simply helping out my team.
Same goes the other way for marines, not every marine is going to be pushing the front lines. Some sit back and help build stuff at base, is their role more valuable than the players out claiming new extractor points or locking out a hive?
Whilst I dont like the idea a lot...it is better than RFK...though I think the OPS original post also had some valid ideas (though again discouraged attacking out of your teams "area of control".
I dont think the res issue is easy to solve even with the new format of NS2....the suggestions so far still impact on players doing more than simply hiding and waiting to get enough res to go onos. Aliens should not be living in fear for their lives to the same extent as marines, being melee based they cant be as its too much of a handicap if they are.
