<div class="IPBDescription">Impossible win? Think again!</div> I have heard a few people moaning that it is impossible for the marines to win on ns-eclipse. Well I've just gotten out of a very fun game where we almost trounced the aliens on that map (I'll explain the almost part later).
Game starts: 3 marines, 2 aliens. I take the comms and we build an 2 infantry portals and an armoury. While this is happening, I move to each hive location and listen for the tell-tale throbbing of the first hive healing itself. It turns out they started in the Computer Core. "Great" I think to myself, "time to move home".
I waypoint my two marines to get their butts over to Eclipse Command, they ofcourse thought they knew better and decided to wait for me to place a resource tower at the Triad Generator Array. After some yelling into the mic, they finally move on and I plonk down a Turret Factory, 3 Turrets a Resource Tower and an Armoury. 2 or 3 more people come into the game and join aliens.
NOW I go back for the Triad Generator Array. I get the standard TF/5xSG/RT there and once again send my marines back to Eclipse Command. I still haven't seen any alien activity. I build another turret factory on the other side, put down more turrets, recycle the portals and armoury at the old base and then put 2 portals down at Eclipse Command. FINALLY, the aliens make their appearance. 2 or 3 skulks start chomping away on my chair, so I put another CC down in Eclipse Command, and start laughing over the mic to my marines, telling them to play dead and angry.
More people come in, those who join marines quickly leave, so I'm faced with 3 marines vs about 7 aliens. They come in just in time for my CC to die and for me to be killed. The aliens start calling me a lamer n00b, and I start apologising, saying that I'm new to this. Meanwhile I've spawned back at the Eclipse Command, jumped back into the cc and have started placing upgrade buildings. We start moaning for the teams to even up and the aliens, after argueing that they had already won the game, finally evened it out.
This is where things get pear-shaped... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
The dreaded selection bug struck, and some stupid TF wouldn't get unselected, so I couldn't make any upgrades. One of the aliens who joined their team started saying that we need a new commander because we had 250 resources lying around. Never mind the fact that we had the upper hand...
I told him it was because I couldn't select anything, and so I told someone else to comm, in hopes that it would work and we could carry on. Some others jumped in and got research going, and jumped out again (they weren't keen on commanding it seems). I still couldn't do anything, so I jumped out and told someone else to take the comms permanently. They did, and after a minute or two, they got the selection bug too. So we got another guy to keep going in, dropping heaps of armour and weapons at the base, then jumping out again. We did this, took another hive but then things got crap, because we couldn't organise our troops without waypoints, and we couldn't build defenses at the hives we took. That first guy who told me we needed a new commander because there was too much money in reserves, got sick of taking one hive only to see the other one get rebuilt, so he went and destroyed the CC and infantry portals to force a restart...
It would've been nice to give this story a happy ending, but I guess it just wasn't my lucky day or something... Ah well, atleast I know what to do for next time!

NS just needs more skilled commanders. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
