<div class="IPBDescription">How to balance?</div> Natural Selection is probably the most amazing MOD i have ever seen, yet it has some problem.
I see lots of people complaining that races aren't balanced, that marines are underpowered and aliens are too much strong. That's not exaclty as it is.
As you can see, this mod reminds classical RTS like Starcraft. In RTS games both teams starts in a balanced force situation. Such situations becomes unbalanced as soon as one team gets control of hives/resources. Nothing wrong with that, thats normal.
What's wrong is that in such situations ITS IMPOSSIBLE for the "weaker" team to emerge. You can guess the outcome of a match in about 5 minutes.
Why is that?
1) Alien Off Chambers strength is mainly based on number. A single OffChamb is useless. A mass of 10 offChamb (with 3 def chamb behind) is a damn unbreakable wall. More importantly, gorges can heal and rebuild chambers in no time.
2) Marines Sieges are way too strong. Yet its the only way to breach such walls... unfortunately, very often alien takes control of resources and marines are screwed.
3) If aliens gets sieged, they are busted. There is NO WAY, except having 3 hives, to win a match for aliens. Why? Because marines can build tons and tons and tons of SGs... on ns_caged i found difficult to attack even with Onos.
So, how to resolve?
I suggest such ideas:
1) Marines need a mass destruction weapon. Gren Launcher is absolutely useless against off chambers, i found more usefull a combined attack of HMG.
2) Aliens should sacrifice some brutal strenght for a more tattical approach. Skulk genocide it's fine, but i didn't managed to destroy anything with that...
3) Either sieges don't fire trough walls or it doesn't HURT players near structures.
